this works now, except you need to ad an observer, and the output is 9 items

Came here to figure out how to build this again, the method for figuring out 3 of the same item is genius!

More compact would be just a simple observer (with eg a lamp in front)

inb4 EDIT: I've tried it out with in my test world to see how it does compared to the other I've been using and apparently your double pulse generator doesn't work anymore. Instead of two I'm getting three pulses in v1.19.3. What fixes it is using a stone button. OP: Pretty expensive compared to the one that I'm using so far with about the same size but I like that your's is so instant. Mine (I didn't come up with it) has quite a delay before it gives out the two pulses. So I might go with yours instead.

for some reason it gives me 3 signals

as of testing this in Oct 2021 a wood button does 3 ticks stone does 2. With no inversion red stone torch and block, and a pressure plate you can make a device that always cycles until someone/thing presses the pressure plate.

I wanted to make something like this for a castle build, with automatically lighting fire podiums. My first idea was to have fire charges light it, and then water buckets put it out. Spent about an hour looking into like, pulse circuits and observers. Can’t believe I forgot flint and steel can be used by a dispenser XD and this way I don’t need a whole separate system for water buckets. Nice and simple, and compact to boot.

technically using water is faster and if u have a problem with how it will go to fast then u can make a loop of water like a circle just flowing until all the items get in

You can reach the dispenser with all the passwords simply by clicking beneath hopper

This design doesn't work anymore. Thought I should make a comment for that. Otherwise I really like this concept. I'm going to see if I can modify it to work for current minecraft.
